Moderator System

The Moderator System was released on Tuesday, September 24, 2013. It was introduced with the Legendary Moderator Update. The Moderator System allows all players to have the ability to moderate the chats of others. Each player has a certain Moderator Level. The higher your Moderator Level, the more Points you will have. You can use this points to suspend a person's message. In order to keep the system fair, the moderated messages can be overturned, if enough people feel that the moderator acted wrongly.

Anybody can report a chat if they feel it was offensive or inappropriate for the chat channel. When reporting, it's important to make sure that the message is really not appropriate for the channel. If the message is offensive or inappropriate, click on the message, and press the "Moderate Chat" button on the bottom of the screen. The reporter is charged a certain amount of Moderator Points. Each Moderator Point counts as one vote against the moderated chat message. When a message reaches 100 votes, it becomes suspended. A player can only report a chat once. Once a chat message is suspended, the person who wrote it will receive a chat suspension. The first offense is a 5 minute suspension. After that, further suspensions are 3 times as long as the previous one. A second offense would be a 15 minute suspension, and a third offense would be a 45 minute suspension. So on, and so forth. The longest Chat suspension that anybody can have is 48 hours. Having no suspensions for 48 consecutive hours will clear your record completely. Your next offense would start back at 5 minutes. Once a chat is reported, it is added to the Moderator Exam queue. The player that gave the chat the most votes is the overall Reporter of that chat. Depending on the results of Moderator Exams, a ruling can be overturned or upheld. If a chat is overturned, then the reporter will lose a Moderator Level and all of their current Moderator Points.

In order to gain Moderator Levels, you must take the Moderator Exam. The Moderator Exam gives you a series of chats. These chats are either "Good Chats" or "Bad Chats." Mark each chat accordingly. The Moderator Exam will provide a few messages leading up to the reported chat, and it will also tell you from what chat room the reported chat is. If you feel that the chat is acceptable for the chat room, then it is a "Good Chat." If you feel that the chat is inappropriate for the chat room, then it is a "Bad Chat." If your answers match those of the community, then you will pass the exam. If your answers don't match the answers of the community, then you will not pass. You do not need to get ALL questions correct in order to pass, but a vast majority must be answered correctly. The higher your Moderator Level, the more questions you have on your Moderator Exam. Also, the percentage of questions you must answer correctly increases with your Moderator Level. If you pass the Moderator Exam, you will be rewarded with gold and an increased Moderator Level. If you fail the exam, you will get nothing and need to wait until the next day to retake it. You can only take the Moderator Exam once a day. If you for some reason need to leave the Moderator Exam, you can pick up, right where you left off.

There are 10 Moderator Levels. The higher your level, the more votes you have. Once you become Moderator Level 10, your ruling is absolute, you don't need anybody else to agree with your suspension.
